The Toronto Alumni Reception brings Alumni together from across the GTA

Bringing together York University alumni, faculty, and staff from all walks of life, the Toronto Alumni Reception was a sold-out success held at downtown Toronto’s Aperture room. The evening featured remarks from host and York University Advisory Board (YUAB) Chair Randy Williamson (LLB '88); a presentation by York University President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri; and an uplifting and engaging speech by York University alumnus Karl Subban (BEd '90).

Encouraging words from York University Fall Convocation honorees inspires our newest Alumni

“Don’t be afraid to make a mistake.” These words, addressed by sports visionary and philanthropist Paul Beeston, were delivered to graduands from Glendon College and the Faculty of Health during his convocation address on October 19. Paul Beeston, a sports visionary and philanthropic superstar, and Janice Fukakusa, a financial leader, education and health services advocate and champion of Japanese-Canadian culture, were both awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree recognizing their careers and achievements.

President's Town Hall focuses on the impact of good planning

The annual town hall is a central part of the University’s ongoing efforts to communicate and facilitate engagement with the community. This year’s event also marked the last town hall for York University President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri and York Vice-President Finance and Administration Gary Brewer as both will be retiring next year.
